I just wanted to quickly Blog about the recent comments made by Bishop Christopher Jones on the Civil Partnership Bill.
How dare he have the audacity to tell the Oireachtas what it should do. Calling for a “Free Vote”
This bill is supported by all Parties. While it doesn’t provide adequate protections and rights it is a step in the right direction. The Catholic church should have learned by now that the days where they said something and the Irish state listened to them have thankfully and rightfully ended.
I commend John Gormley on his swift reply to Bishop Christopher Jones and I hope that from here on in he will spend his time on more pressing issues - such as how many holy wafers and bottles of wine he should order for his Diocese.
Or else I might visit his constituency and start telling him how to deliver the Eucharist to church goers.
