So this was the winning song of the Eurovision. I know - it sucks, Germany enter with a girl who puts on a “mockney” accent and wiggles her hips. Ireland enters a previous winner who puts her heart and soul into a ballad that should have placed much higher that 23rd:
The UK placed very bottom this year, being one of “The Big Four” you have to ask if its worth it to them anymore??
However I don’t believe that us pulling out will actually do any good, as the rest of Europe wouldn’t even notice our absence - who remembers that Italy pulled out in 1997 and has refused to return?
The Eurovision is all about your neighbours, and being an island, we have none. By rights Iceland should have won with “Je ne sais quoi ” but they have the same problem!
I say we stop wasting money sending acts and we pump the money to where it is needed! Or maybe start a national competition where you have representatives from each county with a public vote to decide the winner?
